Francesco De Gregori
Francesco De Gregori was born in Rome 4th April, 1951.
He began performing at the age of just sixteen at the Folkstudio and began writing lyrics during the same period. His debut dates back to 1970 with the album "Theorius Campus" composed together with his friend Venditti, for whom this was also the first album. Despite disappointing record sales of Theorius Campus, thanks to courageous producer Edoardo De Angelis, the following year Francesco De Gregori released the single "Alice non lo sa". The title-track took part in the “Un disco per l’Estate” song contest, but came last. Nonetheless, the record was quietly successful.
In 1983 Francesco De Gregori released his most famous song, "La donna cannone" in a mini-album of 5 tracks.
